The plot begins literally a couple of days before the mercenary Scar appears on the Cordon. By chance, the Main Character falls into the hands of a little thing that turns his whole leisurely life on the Cordon in the village of Newcomers upside down.

The main character makes a deal with Sidorovich, according to which he is looking for a way to the Center of the Zone, bypassing the brain burner, and if the path is found, then Sidorovich will be the first to receive this route, which will make him the richest merchant in the Zone. In turn, this will allow the Main Character himself to enrich himself, since no one has canceled the Klondike of Artifacts. Sidorovich helps the Main Character prepare for the raid…
