The two-dimensional levels are filled with a non-standard vision of the situation, because the team of artists tried their best to develop a recognizable style that will be remembered by players even after complete completion. Travel along them and solve the riddles you encounter along the way, which will not only allow you to move forward, but will also lift the veil of secrecy about the structure of this or that universe.
